Introduction

Meeting resource requirements for building, research and training in Guns of Glory can be tough. One way to help is setting up one or more farm accounts. This guide explains what a farm account is and how to set it up.

Tips on building a farm account for Guns of Glory.

Important: If you want to use the same device for multiple accounts, make sure that you have bound your game in the Settings - Account menu. Better not use facebook to bind, I got a lot of problems with it and lost several accounts. This is a good idea anyway, you do not want to lose the account you have invested time and money in just because your device gets corrupted, but essential for being able to set up other accounts on the same device.

Drawback of One Account

You will find that the resource gathering and production of your main account is quite limited. Even if you have 5 marches gathering most of the day and many resource buildings all maxed out, with many gathering and production boosts, it still takes a very long time to fill the requiremenst for building upgrades and research projects. Building one or more farm accounts can help you.

Hyper Farming Not Applicable

In some other games Hyper Farming is an alternative approach to tackle the resource problem. With Hyper Farming every player in an Alliance sets up his main to produce one specific resource, focusses buildings, research, commander skill points, gear as much as possible on that resource. In Guns of Glory this is not applicable, at least not to the full extend. Mostly because there is a limit to each type of resource production building, so the possibilities to specialize are limited. In addition the fact that different resources become available at different times in the game, also makes it more difficult to setup a good system.

Farm Account Concept

Conceptually a Farm Account is simply another account dedicated to contributing to the resources you need for your main account. In some other games it is better to setup a Farm account dedicated to one resource, but because of the restrictions in the number of buildings you can build of each type, in Guns of Glory it is better to just focus on all resources you need in one account. If you need more resources and like the concept of Farm Accounts, you can build multiple farm accounts.

Binding Each Account

For the instructions below I assume you use binding via Facebook. If you use any other way, it will work in a similar manner. Once you have decided how much farm accounts you are going to make, you will need to make facebook accounts for all of them.

Setting Up a Farm Account

If you want to use multiple accounts on the same device, you can go to the Settings - Account menu and use the Start New Game button. Once the game starts you click through the tutorial and start building your account. (Note: on my ipad I had a problem creating a new game, after I selected the Start New Game button the program got stuck and upon restarting the game I got into a facebook login dialog. If something like this happens you can always opt to remove the app from your device completely, AFTER you have bound your main account).

I will briefly discuss some of the items of our Beginner's Guide and indicate what you should do for each step for your farm accounts.

It is best to use a dedicated Farm alliance for your farm account. Often the big alliances create one or more such farm alliances. If they haven't done so already, ask your leaders if they can create one.

Teleporting very close to your main is quite cumbersome. The beginner's teleport only allows you to port to a random location in a new kingdom. You should make sure you are in the right kingdom (I believe normally when you create a new game you will end up in the same Kingdom, but check when you make your farm account) before you upgrade to Castle 6 and when your account is not older than 5 days, but to get close to your main you need to become a member of the main or farm alliance and use an Alliance Teleport, or safe up Alliance Honor making donations to purchase an advanced Teleport.

Leveling up your Lord will be important to be able to assign Talent Points to the Economy category to increase the resource production and gathering rates. Since you need to max Talent projects before being able to go on to the next one, there are not so many choices to be made. I tend to still select Gathering and not Production when there is a choice, since even for the farm accounts I believe most my resources are coming from gathering.

Outside the wall you should build as many resource buildings as possible. Initially you should build at least three Military Tents (one is required for Castle upgrade lvl 9, you can replace Military Tents with resource production buildings once you have trained enough troops) and depending on how likely your farms are going to be attacked I would build sufficient hospital space (one is required for Castle lvl 11). Inside the wall I suggest to build all buildings. They are not all necessary, but you do get Lord EXP for each building level, so they help with upgrading your Lord, and most of them do offer some benefit, even for farm accounts.

Until Which Level to Build Farm Accounts

There is not a specific target level for a Farm account. The higher you build your account (and all Resource buildings), the more resources you will produce, but while you are building your account, you likely need all resources to build your Farm Account, so it is not producing for you yet. The level you build your account depends on you. How much time do you want to invest in building up your account, and how much patience do you have before it starts producing for your main?

There are certain levels to consider. If you require Iron you need to upgrade to at least level 10, and for Silver to atleast level 15. Those levels, 10 and 15, also have the benefit of unlocking extra areas, allowing you to build more resource production buildings. Personally I would not go past level 15, as I feel the benefits do not outweight the resources you need to invest.

Training Troops for Gathering Resources

In Guns of Glory the production of resources is quite slow, and to make the most of your farm you should really gather resources as well, in my opinion. This means training troops and sending them out several times a day. Not only a lot of work, but it also depends on whether your Kingdom is rather peaceful and/or has some rules in place with respect to not attacking farms, whether this is could really work out..

Initially you might want to train all troop types to build up enough troops to gather with three marches, and at a later stage replace most with Artillery (specially the tier 1, 3 and 5 which have a high load), so that you keep your upkeep down. There is something to be said as well for having a mix of troops and a strong army. If you play more active with the account you can get a lot of resources as well by rallying the Red Guard Camps and killing monsters, for which a more diverse army is beneficial.

Getting Resources to Your Main

There are two ways to get the resources from a Farm account to your main, you attack the farm account with your main, or you transfer resources via the Trade Station from your farm to your main.

Going for the Trade Station route is not recommended. It requires you to either change your main account to the farm alliance or your farm account to the main alliance, this is cumbersome. Plus transferring resources via Trade Station, especially since your Farm account will likely not be a very high level, will be time consuming and costs tax.

If you use attack to transfer resources, your Main and Farm account need to be in different alliance (which they normally are) and your Main (and Farm) cannot have an active Peace Shield. In Guns of Glory there is no tax on resources when attacking.

The frequency with which you attack depends on how active you play with your farms (and when you need the resources). Assuming you actively gather you will log in several times a day in your farm accounts and harvest your resource production buildings, so there is no requirement to attack frequently to keep the production going. You might want to wait until you need the resources (especially if you have a food inbalance in your main), although you of course also have to think about whether it is likely others will attack your farm account.

Conclusion

I hope this gives you an idea what a Farm account is, what the benefits are, and how to set one up. If you have any other suggestions or questions, please share in the comments.
