Each day you can complete Daily Quests to get some resources and materials. Often it is quite easy and if you complete them all you get a small gold amount as extra bonus. This guide contains a description of all daily quests I have encountered so far.
Do some research in the College. You should be doing this anyway, so no problem. I am still at a stage that individual research projects take less than one day, not sure how this works once the research time becomes very long.
You should be doing building upgrades all the time anyway, so this should not be an issue either. Like with research my building upgrades for now still take hours rather than days, not sure how quest will be once the typical Building upgrade takes more than a day.
The quest might specify a specific level/tier of soldiers you to train. After training them go to the Barracks, Stables, Range, Mage Academy to collect them. You normally always complete this quest as you are always training soldiers.
You can heal wounded soldiers at the Hospitals. I tend not to heal too many, so that I have some spare to heal the next day in case I am not losing any troops.
You can build traps in the Fortress building. So far I have only had Daily Quests for which it did not matter which trap level I build. Trap building can take quite some time, so I suggest to first build a small amount so you cover the requirement for the daily quest and afterwards Build a larger amount if you want to build more.
Once you have your embassy this should be no issue at all, whenever you see a red number in the Alliance menu, likely there are some people asking Help, scroll to your embassy and click on the Help All icon above the Embassy. Do this as often as you can irrespective of whether you have completed this Daily Quest.
You can donate resources to other alliance members. Ask if someone nearby needs something and send it to them by clicking on their castle and selecting Resource Help. Otherwise just donate a small amount to a nearby alliance member.
Make sure you sign in to the game. The daily sign in resets based on your first sign in, it seems, so the time frame to do this does not exactly coincide with the time frame for the Daily Quests.
The Beginner Guide contains an explanation on how to make Friends in Clash of Queens. Once you have friends you can visit them by clicking the Visit button next to them in the friend list that can be opened by clicking the small left arrow in the right middle of your screen.
When you go to the map view you can select an empty area and go there to gather food. The assigned troops will go there for a certain amount of time during which a steady stream of food will come to your castle.
When you go to the map view you can select an empty area and go there to gather wood. The assigned troops will go there for a certain amount of time during which a steady stream of wood will come to your castle.
When you go to the map view you can select an empty area and go there to gather iron (once your castle reaches level 10). The assigned troops will go there for a certain amount of time during which a steady stream of iron will come to your castle.
When you go to the map view you can select an empty area and go there to gather crystal (once your castle reaches level 15). The assigned troops will go there for a certain amount of time during which a steady stream of crystal will come to your castle.
There are a lot of monsters around, just kill some, it is relatively fast and the lower levels are easy. You have to kill one of each level before you can attack monsters of a higher level. You attack together with your commander and troops and if you are not strong enough yet you will be defeated and lose some troops. In that case just go for the lower level monsters until you have increased your strength.
Your castle contains various small rubble that can be cleaned by clicking on it twice. The first time you see the required citizen (so only do this when not all citizen are busy doing Building upgrades) and if the second click is successful you should see a small timer appear.
So now and then there is a green creature running around your city or pink spheres floating around the city, these are considered thieves. As with the Clean the Mess Daily Quest you need to click on it twice to get rid of it. Make sure it is successful, the second time a red damage bar should appear. One of your Citizen will come over to hit the thief.
Make the necessary amount of Altar wishes. This will not all be free, this means you might need to invest gold to complete this specific quest. The prize for this specific quest is not worth it in itself, but if this is the last one towards completing all Daily Quests you will receive the prize for the Complete All quest and that is worth the investment. Note August 2016 there has been a change, instead of the previous 15 only 4 wishes are required, while you typically have more free wishes in the alter, so this became free (and very easy) to complete.
Originally quite some of the Daily Quests gave a material as prize, so that the required materials were very easy to come by. Since Early August 2016 these material prizes were replaced with draconic books, so that now you have to gather the materials in other ways. Killing more monsters also gives a chance at acquiring materials. Once your Guild of Explorers reaches level 13 you can also use the Merchant to get materials. Also the daily free turn in the Tomb Raider feature gives a chance of drop of materials.
Start and collect an Adventure in the Guild of Explorers.
Once you have completed all other Daily Quests, this one is completed automatically.
This is it for the Daily Quests I have encountered so far. If you have seen more or have questions or comments on the above mentioned quests, please share in the comment section.
