Introduction

On October 10 a new Research Gear Set was introduced, the Ground Breaker Research Gear Set. In this guide we make a comparison with the previously released Desert Wanderer Gear Set.

Compared to Desert Wanderer Research Gear

The previous released Research Gear was called Desert Wanderer. Here is a comparison:

With an increase of 116% in Research Speed the benefit of the new set can be considered large. Also very important is the reduction in Research File and Restricted File cost, absolute amounts of 500 and 25, which was not available at all in the Desert Wanderer Gear Set.

Note that the Atom Splitter is a very crucial part in the difference between these two sets. If you already have the Atom Splitter and a complete Desert Wanderer set, the difference between the two is not so much:

In this scenario the difference is only 36% Research Speed and 6% Resource Cost Reduction.

Acquiring Ground Breaker

Like with any of the newly released set you need to purchase packs to get the materials and/or equipment. Be aware that the Atom Splitter is a crucial part of this gear set. It gives a huge research speed boost and the Research/Restricted File cost reduction, without this weapon the gear set is not much different from the Desert Wanderer Gear Set. The Atom Splitter requires the Uranium material, make sure you get this one!

Conclusion

Whether it is worth to acquire this Research Gear Set depends on what you already have. If you already own the Atom Splitter and the Desert Wanderer Gear set, the added benefit is quite small, if not, this one is worth it. Keep your eyes open for packs that either contain pieces of the finished gear, or the materials that are required to manufacture them.
