The Basics

You need to make matches of at least 3 tiles (candies) by swapping 2 tiles. Make matches of more tiles will result in special tiles with the potential to clear large parts of a field. Each level provides a field of tiles and a goal (e.g. eliminate a certain amount of one type of candy) to be completed within a certain amount of moves or time. Completing a level unlocks a next level, and with some of the new levels new concepts are introduced in the game.

Difficulty

Ideal difficulty. The levels start of quite easy but soon will start to provide a serious challenge. One thing to keep in mind is that it might be better to try a level a couple of times before giving up and using your special boosters (like the lollipop) to clear a difficulty, you might need those later for levels that are even harder.

Variation

As you progress through the levels new game concepts keep being introduced, and the way these are introduced and combined make each level a unique challenge.

Visually

Not only attractive, but every different type of tile and game concept is easily distinguishable.

Free vs Paid

All features are available without spending. Some of the benefits of spending are that you can play more frequently, you can skip the waiting period between chapters of levels, and you can purchase boosters to help you clear levels. I spent quite some hours on this game in the early years of its release and never felt the urge to spend anything, while at the same time it has been one of the top grossing games.

I give Candy Crush Saga 10 out of 10 stars. Addictive tile swap and match game that has it all.
